Cabinet of Curiosities at Centro Arte e Cultura, Ponte de Sor, Portugal

09.01—27.02.2016

curated by Isabel Vaz Lopes

« This is perhaps the most fascinating thing about this unique artist: his deliberate timelessness, which moves (with unusual ease) between the purity of techniques and materials and the radical impurity of our postmodern situation, which is broadly defined by disbelief in single or merely factious directions. Rui Macedo embraces the philosophy of disbelief that is now part of artistic practice and reflection, and enters into it (without forgetting anything or trying to remember everything) in order to offer us an overwhelming aesthetic experience. »

Raquel Henriques da Silva, excerpt from the catalogue essay, 2016
