Acquisition of artwork "Package_Painting" (2019-2024) for the private art collection of Howard Bilton.

'PACKAGE_PAINTING' is a site-specific painting which aims to challenge the observer’s expectations of what a painting should be. The work explores the limits of this medium by presenting a painting that does not appear to the viewer as a conventional painting or, indeed, as a painting in the strictest sense.

By pushing the boundaries of the painting medium, this work does not appear to the viewer as a traditional painting or even as a painting itself. With the illusion of not seeing a painting but only a package with information about what is inside—the real painting—the observer remains entranced by painting as a trick of perception and expectations, challenging both the criteria and the concept of what should be a painting.
